Combined playing XI which costs less than Ishan Kishan’s IPL 2022 auction price

Combined-playing-XI

Bengaluru hosted the IPL 2022 auction last Sunday. Ishan Kishan was the auction’s most expensive purchase. The Mumbai Indians paid a record 15.25 crores for the Indian wicket-keeper batsman.

At the mega-auction, Kishan was the only player to get an offer for more than 14 crores. Deepak Chahar, who cost the Chennai Super Kings 14 crores, was the second most expensive player.

Given that the lowest fee required to recruit a player at the IPL 2022 auction was Rs. 20 lakhs, the contracts won by Ishan Kishan and Deepak Chahar are significant. In fact, the money spent on Kishan by the Mumbai Indians might be used to put together a full playing XI.

We put up a combined playing XI worth 13.8 crores from the IPL 2022 auction (cheaper than both Ishan Kishan and Deepak Chahar).

Openers – Ajinkya Rahane (₹1 crore) and Devon Conway (₹1 crore)

At the IPL 2022 auction, Ajinkya Rahane and Devon Conway each earned contracts for one crore. Rahane was signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders, while Conway was courted by the Chennai Super Kings.

Rahane has previous experience as a leader, which is why he will be the team’s captain. Conway, on the other hand, will keep the wickets and start the innings.

Middle Order – Rassie van der Dussen (₹1 crore), Karun Nair (₹1.4 crores) and Robin Uthappa (₹2 crores)

In the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Rassie van der Dussen was a standout for South Africa. His outstanding achievements earned him a spot in the Rajasthan Royals’ IPL 2022 team. He was signed for a one-crore fee by the Royals. At the mega-auction, the Jaipur-based club also signed former batter Karun Nair for 1.4 crores.

Robin Uthappa, a former Orange Cap champion, completes the middle order. Uthappa was re-signed by the Chennai Super Kings for a base fee of 2 crores.

All Rounders – Krishnappa Gowtham (₹90 lakhs), Rishi Dhawan (₹55 lakhs) and Mohammad Nabi (₹1 crore)

Last year, Krishnappa Gowtham made history as the highest-paid uncapped player in IPL history. He was signed for $9.25 crores by the Chennai Super Kings, however, he was benched for the whole season. He was signed by the Lucknow SuperGiants for 90 lakhs this year.

The team’s pace-bowling all-rounder will be Rishi Dhawan, who was outstanding throughout the domestic season. The Punjab Kings paid 55 lakhs for his services. Mohammad Nabi will join the club as the team’s third foreign player. The Afghanistan all-rounder was signed for one crore by Kolkata Knight Riders, the former champions.

Bowlers – Karn Sharma (₹50 lakhs), Kuldeep Yadav (₹2 crores), Mustafizur Rahman (₹2 crores), Sandeep Sharma (₹50 lakhs)

Karn Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav, both experienced wrist-spinners, will lead the team’s spin assault. Sharma returned to Royal Challengers Bangalore for a fee of 50 lakhs, while Yadav was acquired by the Delhi Capitals for a fee of 2 crores.

At the mega-auction, Delhi also managed to sign Bangladesh’s left-arm bowler Mustafizur Rahman for 2 crores. Rahman is now one of the top pacers in T20 cricket.

Sandeep Sharma, a seasoned campaigner, is the team’s second specialised fast bowler. Sharma will wear the Punjab Kings shirt in the IPL 2022 after signing a 50 lakh deal with the team.
