3 uncapped players who are likely to make their debut for MI this season

Last Sunday, the IPL 2022 Auction took place in Bengaluru. At the super auction, the Mumbai Indians signed 21 players, filling all of the available seats. MI made news when it paid Rs. 15.25 crore for Ishan Kishan’s services.

MI also added Jofra Archer, Daniel Sams, Fabian Allen, Jaydev Unadkat, Mayank Markande, Tymal Mills, Murugan Ashwin, and Riley Meredith, who are all experienced match-winners.

While the Mumbai Indians spent big on famous stars, they also looked ahead and recruited a number of uncapped prospects. Although not all of them are expected to play in the IPL in 2022, the following three players have the best chance of starting their IPL careers with the Mumbai Indians this season.

1. Arjun Tendulkar

Arjun Tendulkar was released by the Mumbai Indians prior to the IPL 2022 auction, however he was re-signed for $30 lakh at the super auction. Tendulkar’s starting price in the big auction was set at Rs. 20 lakh. Tendulkar was courted by both the Mumbai Indians and the Gujarat Titans, but he was finally signed by MI for a fee of Rs. 30 lakh.

Arjun is a bowling all-rounder, as many fans are aware. He is one of a small number of left-arm fast bowlers in India. In IPL 2022, Mumbai Indians’ first-choice left-arm fast bowler is projected to be Jaydev Unadkat, with Arjun as the backup.

Given that Arjun spent the IPL 2021 season with MI, where he trained with some of the top players in the world but did not play a single game, the club management may consider giving him a game or two in IPL 2022.

2. Dewald Brevis

At the IPL 2022 auction, Dewald Brevis was awarded his first IPL contract by the Mumbai Indians. Because Brevis is known as ‘Baby AB de Villiers,’ many supporters expected the Royal Challengers Bangalore to make a strong bid for him. MI, on the other hand, did not make the same mistake, signing the South African U-19 star for Rs. 3 crores.

In the just-finished ICC U-19 World Cup 2022, Brevis demonstrated his outstanding batting abilities. It would be fascinating to observe how the kid performs in the most important T20 tournament.

Because the Mumbai Indians also have Tim David and Kieron Pollard in the overseas division, he might be used as a backup batsman.

3. N. Tilak Verma

At the IPL 2022 auction, Tilak Varma was awarded a contract of 1.7 crores by the Mumbai Indians. Varma has never played in the IPL previously, although he has represented India at the U-19 level and for the Hyderabad franchise.

He’s a top-of-the-order hitter who can rack up runs quickly, in case you didn’t know. In domestic cricket, the left-handed batsman has accumulated 381 T20 runs at an incredible strike rate of 143.77.

Given the Mumbai Indians’ strong interest in him at the IPL 2022 Auction, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if he plays right from the first game.
