According to reports, days after Argentina achieved its first Copa América triumph in 28 years, Lionel Messi could soon face Italy, winner of Euro 2020, in the Super Cup.

CONMEBOL, the South American soccer organization, has asked UEFA to host a unique match between Argentina and Italy to see which team deserves the victory, as stated by Barca Blaugranes.

Previously, the champions of each confederation’s tournaments could play against each other in the FIFA Confederations Cup. However, the tournament was canceled. The last time Russia hosted the Confederations Cup in 2017, and Germany became the winner of the Cup.

Argentina and Lionel Messi will have nothing but to wait to play a match against Italy no matter what the proposal was. The game will take place prior to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar because of the COVID-19 and the tight schedule of the club.
