3 teams at an advantage after the grouping system

The format for the next 15th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been released by the Governing Council. The ten clubs have been seeded into two groups depending on the number of championships each franchise has won.

Each team will play the teams in its group twice, as well as the team in the opposing group’s identical row. Each club will only face the other teams in the opposite group once, to complete the round.

1. Delhi Capitals (DC)

With the groups decided and the league round of the event set to take place across Mumbai and Pune, several clubs are in a strong position. We’ll take a look at three such groups in the following paragraphs:

The Delhi Capitals (DC) play in Group A. DC will meet Punjab Kings (PBKS) twice from Group B, in addition to the four other teams in their group. The Capitals have a well-rounded group, and their projected starting XI is widely regarded as one of the finest in the league. The Capitals have an edge in this aspect, given the problems with balance that clubs like the Rajasthan Royals (RR) have. Last year, DC defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) on both occasions.

For the contests, PBKS has put up a gun unit. However, because most of them will be playing together for the first time, it is possible that they may need some time to come up to speed. Newcomers Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) may face a similar fate, with DC due to play them twice.

If the groups are any indication, the Capitals appear to be well-positioned for the next season.

2. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have been assigned to Group B, where they will face Rajasthan Royals twice. RCB have had good previous results against RR and will be confident of completing the double against them.

Some of the stronger opponents, such as the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, will only have to face RCB once. This gives them even another advantage in the IPL 2022.

Furthermore, an examination of the RCB squad reveals that their bowling assault is one of the most formidable ahead of the new season. The batting units of teams like the Gujarat Titans (GT) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are under question. In the meantime, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) appear to be overly reliant on Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, and Moeen Ali.

3. Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians (MI) are in first place in Group A, whereas Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face them twice in the opposite group. MI are the only side with a better head-to-head record versus CSK, having won seven of their past nine meetings.

MI also have a strong record versus DC and KKR, with the latter having a particularly strong record against them. In recent years, the Rajasthan Royals have a history of upsetting the apple cart. In comparison to the Royals, MI’s team for IPL 2022 appears to be significantly more balanced.

Add in the fact that the event will be held in Maharashtra, and the most successful IPL squad will be in familiar territory.
